PNG to STL

PNGs are ideal relief sources because they keep sharp edges and transparency. Dark areas rise, light areas stay low, and transparent pixels sit at base height. The STL comes out watertight and 100 mm wide.

How to use the png to stl

  1. 1Add a pictureDrop a PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG. A sample image is preloaded so you can see the result straight away.
  2. 2Tune depth and detailSlide depth for how far shapes rise, and detail for how fine the mesh is. The 3D preview updates live.

Tips for better results

  • Use a PNG with a transparent background so only the subject rises.
  • Increase detail for logos with thin lines; lower it for photos to keep the file small.

Getting a clean PNG relief

  • Transparent pixels are treated as the lowest height, so a cut-out subject on transparency gives a clean raised shape with a flat surround.
  • Anti-aliased edges create a small slope around shapes. For sharp vertical walls, export your PNG without smoothing or at a larger size.
  • Text below about 3 mm tall on a 100 mm plaque gets hard to print on FDM. Scale the design up or simplify the lettering.
  • A 0.4 mm nozzle resolves detail down to roughly half a millimetre, so detail settings above 200 mostly add file size rather than visible sharpness.
