Carved Chess King 3D model

A chess king whose fine carved detail comes from a normal map on a light base mesh, the standard trick for making low-poly game assets look sculpted. In the viewer it renders as a clean white piece, like an ivory or resin original.

What you can do with it

  • A chess game or board-game simulator
  • A demonstration of how normal maps add detail without triangles
  • A starting point for a printed chess set (scale to about 90 mm tall)

Performance: is 3,998 triangles a lot?

Very light. Fine for mobile games, standalone VR and web pages, even with many copies on screen. It has fewer triangles than 90% of the 52 models in this library. Read more about polygon budgets, or how to reduce a model's polygon count.

Before you use it

The carving is in the normal map, not the geometry. A printed copy will come out smoother than the render.
