Mesh simplifier

Heavy scans and AI meshes often have far more triangles than they need. Pick how much to keep and preview the simplified mesh live before you download it. Silhouettes hold up well down to 25–50% on most models.

How to use the mesh simplifier

  1. 1Open a modelDrop a GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, PLY, FBX, 3MF, DAE or USDZ file. It stays on your device.
  2. 2Read the resultsStats appear instantly: triangles, vertices, materials, size and, for closed meshes, volume.
  3. 3Act on itResize, simplify or convert the model with the related tools below.

Tips for better results

  • Textures are removed, because simplified geometry can't keep its UVs.
  • For game characters, retopology gives better results than decimation.

How far to simplify

  • Background props usually survive 75–90% reduction without visible change.
  • Scans have lots of redundant triangles and often drop to 10–20% cleanly.
  • Characters lose detail fast at the face and hands. Stop earlier, or retopologise.
  • Generate several levels (100%, 50%, 25%) to use as LODs in a game engine.

Is my file private?
Yes. Processing happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you save a result to your account.
