STL volume calculator
Volume tells you how much material a print needs. This tool computes the enclosed volume of a closed mesh from its triangles and converts it to cubic centimetres, assuming the file is in millimetres.

How to use the stl volume calculator
- 1Open a modelDrop a GLB, glTF, OBJ, STL, PLY, FBX, 3MF, DAE or USDZ file. It stays on your device.
- 2Read the resultsStats appear instantly: triangles, vertices, materials, size and, for closed meshes, volume.
- 3Act on itResize, simplify or convert the model with the related tools below.
Tips for better results
- Volume is only meaningful for closed (watertight) meshes.
- Real prints use less material than the solid volume because of infill.
Understanding the number
- The formula sums signed tetrahedra from each triangle to the origin. It's exact for closed meshes.
- Open meshes or holes make the result unreliable. Repair the model first.
- Divide by 1000 to go from mm³ to cm³; 1 cm³ of PLA weighs about 1.24 g.
- Resin printers use the solid volume more directly, since parts are usually printed solid or hollowed.
Questions
- Do I need to sign up to try it?
- No. The preview runs in your browser without an account. You only need a plan to download the result.
- Is my file private?
- Yes. Processing happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded unless you save a result to your account.
