Clipart to SVG

Clipart and cartoons have flat colours and bold outlines, so they trace very cleanly. Each colour region becomes its own path, ready to recolour or separate for screen printing.

Preset: medium detail, background removed.

How to use the clipart to svg

  1. 1Add an imageDrop a picture. It's traced in your browser, so nothing leaves your device.
  2. 2Set the colour countThis preset starts at 10 colours and removes a plain background. Fewer colours mean cleaner, simpler paths.
  3. 3Download the SVGOpen it in Illustrator, Inkscape, Figma, Cricut Design Space or your laser software.

Tips for better results

  • Use 8–12 colours to keep shading bands.
  • Merge paths of the same colour in your editor for smaller files.

Clipart for print-on-demand

  • Print-on-demand sites prefer high-resolution PNGs, but starting from an SVG lets you export at any size.
  • Screen printers need each colour as a separate layer. Traced colour groups map naturally to screens.
  • Check the licence of the clipart you trace. Vectorising doesn't change who owns it.
  • Simplify gradients to flat bands for cheaper, cleaner prints.
