How to use the image to svg for laser cutting

  1. 1Add an imageDrop a picture. It's traced in your browser, so nothing leaves your device.
  2. 2Set the colour countThis preset starts at 3 colours and removes a plain background. Fewer colours mean cleaner, simpler paths.

Tips for better results

  • Assign one colour per operation (cut, score, engrave) in your laser software.
  • Check the width in millimetres after import.

Laser-ready conventions

  • Most laser software maps stroke colours to operations, for example red cut, blue score and black engrave.
  • Check kerf: the beam removes material, so tight-fitting parts may need offsetting.
  • Islands, like the centre of an 'O', fall out when cut. Add bridges or engrave instead of cutting.
  • Set the document size in millimetres before export so the design imports at the right scale.
